The Bulleen Boomers have pulled off another off-season coup, securing the services of former Jayco Opals star Hollie Florance (nee Grima) for the 2012/13 WNBL season.

A member of the 2006 World Championship Gold Medal-winning Jayco Opals, the 190cm star returns to the court after the birth of her first child three months ago.

Still only 28 years of age, Florance made the career-changing decision to return from European basketball and start a family, still in the peak of her career.

The 2007 WNBL MVP brings significant experience to the Boomers roster for the upcoming season, where she will join young guns Tess Madgen (formerly Bendigo), the returning Rachel Jarry and Elyse Penaluna, back from a long-term knee injury.

Florance made her international debut for the Jayco Opals at the 2002 World Championships as an 18-year-old, with the Tasmanian-native becoming a regular in the national team set-up on her way to World Championship and Commonwealth Gold in 2006, and Olympic Silver in 2008 in more than 200 appearances for her country.

In July of last year Florance shocked the Australian basketball, announcing her retirement from international competition after being diagnosed with an early form of cervical cancer in 2010.

Now in the clear she returns the WNBL where she made her name as one of the best offensive players in Australia.
